Conditions Treated

Common foot and ankle problems, assessed properly

Every case is different, so we start with a proper assessment of your gait, footwear and history before recommending treatment. Here are some of the conditions we see and treat most often.

Heel Pain

Sharp or aching pain under or behind the heel, often worst with the first steps of the day.

Heel pain has several possible causes, from plantar fasciitis to fat pad irritation or a stress reaction in the bone, and treatment differs depending on which one it is.

We assess your gait, footwear and daily load to pinpoint the cause, then build a plan that might include stretching, taping, orthotics or shockwave therapy.

Plantar Fasciitis

Inflammation of the band of tissue along the sole of the foot, a common cause of stabbing heel pain.

Plantar fasciitis develops when the tissue supporting your arch is overloaded, often from a change in activity, footwear or body weight.

Early treatment (stretching, supportive footwear, taping and orthotics) resolves most cases; chronic or stubborn presentations respond well to shockwave therapy.

Achilles Pain

Stiffness or pain along the tendon at the back of the ankle, common in runners and weekend athletes.

Achilles tendinopathy is usually a gradual overuse injury rather than a single event, which means it responds best to a structured loading program rather than rest alone.

We assess tendon load, footwear and training pattern, then build a rehabilitation plan, adding shockwave therapy for cases that have become chronic.

Ankle Pain

Pain, swelling or instability in the ankle, whether from a recent sprain or a long-standing issue.

Ankle pain ranges from an acute sprain to chronic instability from previous injuries that never fully rehabilitated.

Treatment focuses on restoring strength and balance around the joint, with bracing, taping or orthotics used where extra support is needed.

Bunions

A bony bump at the base of the big toe that can make certain shoes painful to wear.

Bunions develop gradually as the big toe joint shifts out of alignment, and footwear choice plays a large role in how quickly they progress.

We offer padding, orthotics and footwear guidance to slow progression and manage pain, and can refer for surgical opinion when conservative care isn't enough.

Ingrown Toenails

A nail edge growing into the surrounding skin, causing pain, redness and sometimes infection.

Mild cases are managed with careful nail trimming and dressing, but toenails that keep coming back ingrown are better solved permanently.

Our in-clinic nail surgery under local anaesthetic removes the problem section of nail for good, with most patients back in normal shoes within a couple of days.

Flat Feet

A lower or collapsed arch that can contribute to pain in the foot, knee or lower back.

Flat feet aren't always a problem on their own, but for some people the altered mechanics lead to pain further up the chain.

When treatment is needed, custom orthotics and targeted strengthening restore support through the arch and reduce strain on the joints above.
